Where does the facility data come from?

We seed from the major operators' published site locators (Big Yellow, Safestore, Shurgard, Access, Lok'nStore, StorageKing and others), then verify against Companies House for single-site operators and cross-reference OpenStreetMap and Google Places tags. Every record carries a verified or unverified flag visible in the UI.

Is the planning data live for the whole UK?

Accepted Answer

Not yet, and we're honest about it. We're manually tracking a focused set of high-growth local authorities at launch. The schema is built so a paid national aggregator feed (Searchland, Glenigan, Radius) can plug in without restructuring as coverage expands.

Question 3

How accurate are the catchment numbers?

Accepted Answer

Population, income and renter-share figures come from ONS data at LSOA/MSOA level. Drive/transit/walk catchments are computed via standard isochrone APIs. We round to meaningful precision and never invent a figure to dress up a slide.

Question 4

Can I claim and manage my facility listing?

Accepted Answer

Yes — there's a verified claim flow. Operators submit company email, role, and proof of ownership (lease, utility bill, Companies House number). Claims go through manual review before they go live; multi-site groups can claim all their sites under one account.

Question 5

How is this different from Searchland or Glenigan?

Accepted Answer

Those are horizontal property-data platforms. Storage Compass is built only for UK self-storage — the catchment scoring, supply-gap benchmarks, operator groupings and intelligence layers are all tuned to how this specific industry sources sites and underwrites demand.
